Hayashi Yoshiki

Yoshiki is the leader, drums and piano player and main composer for the band. At the drums, he plays very strong when needed, which is almost always. He is a music genius, X Japan could not exist without him. He composes very beautiful songs, with a perfect structure and with originality (at least compared to the rest of the music I have heard). He can adapt any resource to his rock songs or ballades. He also plays drums and piano greatly.
Toshimitsu Deyama

Birthplace: Tateyama, Chiba
Toshi is the singer, a voice worth exception controlled perfectly by Yoshiki, who knows exactly Toshi's capabilities and uses them in his songs. The emotion Yoshi puts in composition, Toshi puts in singing. This gives songs of any kind impressing force.
Before having his big haircut, Toshi had the most impressing image in the band (always besides hide), very in the style of X Japan until Dahlia. For this latest album, the band has presented a more diverse image, and members can very easily be distinguished by view (compare photos in this page to the ones in the discography page). Toshi chose a more sober image: no make-up, rather short hair without tint, leather and sunglasses.
Matsumoto Hideto

Hide plays lead guitar. Spectacle is his part in performances and guitar playing, which he does with outstanding technique, fervor and love (he really loves his guitar).
On the stage he wears acid color clothes and fuchsia hair tint (now a little shorter), and he lets music lead him to musical stasis.
His great guitar style is other of X Japan's force basis, and Yoshiki grants him endless guitar solos in return, with which hide can attract completely the audience.
He also composes some songs, like Scars, in which he shows his impulsive, fast style.
Tomoaki Ishizuka
bass
Birthday: 11.04.1965
Birthplace: Chiba
Pata plays rythm guitar, the base on which hide can move freely (always as Yoshiki has planned). His work is also vital for the band: often Pata sets the rythm more than the drums.
His look has not changed since the beginning: very long dark hair with small curls and a gaze that makes you think he does not care about anything you say to him.
Hiroshi Morie
bass
Birthday: 1/22/1968
Birthplace: Hyogo, Japan
Heath plays bass. In slow songs he does what you can expect from a normal bass guitar player, but in fast songs he shows what he is capable of. These songs' rythm depends a lot on Heath. For example, Standing Sex.
He looks rather like Pata, but with a little shorter hair and without curls. He looks like he is immersed in his own world, without caring about the rest of the universe. I guess playing bass needs a lot of concentration.
